Apparently, you can't please everybody

March 2006:

Senator Pimentel calls for Opposition figure to be nominated as COMELEC commissioner.

October 2007:

Malacanang entertains the Opposition's request and:

On Monday, acting poll chief Resurreccion Borra revealed the Palace’s list of possible nominees as: former senators Wigberto TaƱada and Rene Saguisag; Congressman Rufus Rodriguez; Dean Amado Valdez, former executive director of the Presidential Commission on the Visiting Forces Agreement; Comelec chief lawyer Alioden Dalaig; Howard Calleja of the lawyers’ group Lente; and Severo Maluenda.

But a watchdog group demands that Malacanang ‘Reveal process in choosing Comelec nominees’.
