Frustrating

The media's discussion on the issue of the beheading of the Marines in Basilan has degraded into the futile focus on the banal existence of duds among the Marines' mortar rounds. It's not really insignificant but it has overshadowed the bleeding obvious issue of Islamic terrorism, more importantly, whether the government should continue the peace talks with the MILF. Yesterday, commentators were on the verge of actually getting it by questioning the very rationale of such peace talks. Somehow they can't bring themselves to actually say the Muslims are the ones who should be answering the tough questions. The local media simply has the penchant for the petty issues while ignoring the more important ones.
