new controversy erupted at the house when a congressman decided to do the menial job of carrying the ballot boxes for their opening by the canvassing committee. some congressmen were taken affront by this. the congressman in question was the representative from compostela valley, a maverick in his own right. his purpose for doing such a "ghastly" act: to keep himself awake during the long, boring speeches of some of his colleagues.
