ON A SERIOUS MATTER

it seems the controversy from the gayatgay termination has provoked anger amongst some of my fellow bosconians. as of the publication of this post, i have seen two messages expressing outrage over the matter.

what struck me most was a suprisingly angry statement made against the student who caused this controversy by an otherwise patient and quiet person. this is what i feared.

i, for one, am familiar with the struggles of one who's vying for honors. i've seen the internal academic competition among bosconians that tend to be fiercely fought (and which could even include back-stabbing and even some violence but that's another story). i've also witnessed some of the politics involved in the struggle. a candidate sometimes needs the support of a faculty member to ever make it. i do think that the controversy had the hallmarks of the politics going awfully wrong.

so somehow i emphatize with the student, whoever he is (if he absorbed much of the values of the institution, i'm sure he would be ever so remorseful and regretful for what he has caused). i've been driven to similar levels of depravity (sounds too harsh) in school, but thankfully, never in the seriousness and gravity of this case.

no, i'm not making excuses for the boy. but i do invite everyone conerned to settle down. put yourselves in the shoes of those whom you think betrayed you and ms. gayatgay before making harsh and hard comments on the matter.

that for now is my honest opinion on the matter. please direct your criticism to the comment box below. thanks.
