Al-Qaeda financier for Abu Sayyaf Nabbed
it has long been known that islamic terrorists in the Philippines have made efforts in soliciting funds from saudi citizens. i remember that last year, a video tape was shown where a member of the abu sayyaf beheaded a filipino soldier, and this same video was said to be circulated in saudi arabia to promote their *struggle* among saudis, even during the administration of pres. estrada. so news of funds being channeled to abu sayyaf from saudi arabia is not surprising at all. what ticks me is the rather late progress of arresting the flow of funds from terrorist symphatizers in the arab world to the abu sayyaf and other such groups here in the philippines. hopefully mundus' capture would restrict the abu sayyaf's terrorist budget since there's a whole lot of money involved in his activities, but i believe that this will only be a temporary victory since these people will probably find alternative means of financing as they have done in the past. i would be happier if authorities concentrate in dismantling the infrastructures that help provide money to terrorists, rather than eliminating easily replaceable henchmen one by one.
